PY-3 currently produces through Aban's Tahara semi-submersible and Prosafe's Endeavour floating production unit (FPU) whose contracts with Hardy are set to expire in July 2009.
Industry sources said the operator aims to extend the lease period on these two vessels by at least one year with a contract due to be agreed by the end of this year.
This will allow Hardy more time to assess the merits of upgrading the semisub/FPU units or replacing them with a converted floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
