The EoI relates to a potential project that centres on using CO2 emissions from ONGC's Hazira natural gas processing plant to boost oil recovery from the ageing Ankleshwar oilfields in Gujarat.
If implemented, the scheme would be likely to emerge as the first carbon capture and storage project in India by an oil company.
"We have been strongly aiming to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas and are pursuing various projects in this regard," a senior ONGC official said.
