The two global energy superpowers signed a binding agreement on 1 February to advance the development of the Groundbirch assets thereby not only lowering development costs, but potentially opening the door for Shell to export liquefied natural gas to Asian markets.
The transaction has been approved by both the Canadian and Chinese authorities, PetroChina’s senior assistant secretary to the board, Mao Zefeng, said.
