Petronas keen on a slice of LNG Canada

MALAYSIAN state oil company Petronas is understood to have expressed interest in participating in the Shell-led LNG Canada project in Kitimat, British Columbia, despite having pulled the plug on its own Pacific NorthWest LNG project in the same province.

Industry officials said Petronas and its partners remain interested in developing gas assets in Canada. Taking a non-operated stake in LNG Canada would allow Petronas to take advantage of its position in Canada’s gas sector and add this emerging supply source to its global LNG portfolio, they added.
