Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell has farmed out 40% operating stakes in two recently-contracted blocks off Colombia to US independent Noble Energy.
Houston-based Noble will make its debut in the Colombian offshore sector by operating the Col-3 and Gua-3 blocks, which together cover more than 800,000 hectares in the Caribbean Sea. Shell will retain 60% stakes in both blocks.
Both areas were already licensed to Shell as technical evaluation areas, but were upgraded to full exploration and production contracts earlier in March.
