Norway’s Equinor is working directly with engineering teams from both SBM Offshore and Modec as it sets the stage for a front-end engineering and design contest between the two that will lead to a contract award next year to build a giant floating production, storage and offloading vessel for its Carcara field in Brazil.
The Carcara-1 FPSO will be the first of three large floaters that Equinor intends to contract for its pre-salt projects off Brazil, with plans to award a single company the multi-billion dollar trio of developments.
