Tullow Oil will next year appraise its latest oil discovery on the Orinduik block off Guyana at the Joe-1 wildcat, which has de-risked a “significant number” of other prospects in the western portion of the acreage.
The discovery, revealed early this week, came in below pre-drill expectations but has opened up yet another play in the Guyana basin.
Joe-1 was drilled with the drillship Stena Forth, reaching a depth of 2175 metres and encountering 14 metres of net oil pay in high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs of Upper Tertiary age.
