The State Lease 20221-3 development well is being drilled to a total depth of 5700 metres, in a water depth of 2.4 metres.
Well partner Petsec Energy said was expected to take about four months for the well to reach total depth, log, complete and tie into production facilities.
Apache operates the well, holding a 48.75% stake, with Petsec holding 8% and a group of private companies holding the the remaining 43.25%
