The two-year rig deal, due to start in the first quarter of 2016, would have been worth around $96 million to the Oslo-listed contractor, which is majority owned by shipping and offshore billionaire John Fredriksen’s Seadrill.
Archer said in a statement that Talisman Sinopec had given a 30-day notice of early termination of the contract that will be effective on 29 January.
