The sidetrack aimed to recover gas reserves isolated by a fault in the northern part of the producing structure currently targeted by PetroHungaria, in which Ascent holds a stake.
With a bottom hole location located some 430 metres north-east of the original vertical well, the sidetrack is designed to extend the life of the Peneszlek field originally drilled in 2009, Ascent managing director Jeremy Eng said.
