The company said Astra would be used on a development well in the Lam field in the Cheleken contract area, Reuters reported.
Cheleken covers about 950 square kilometres and comprises two offshore oil and gas fields, Dzheitun (LAM) and Dzhygalybeg (Zhdanov), in water depths of 10 to 37 metres.
In April, the London and Dublin-listed Dragon said production had been restored from all five wells on the LAM 22 platform after a pipeline blockage caused it to lose out on 5600 barrels of oil per day, reviving its shares after a previous tumble.
