Oil production in North Dakota declined by almost 49,000 barrels per day of oil between July and August to 981,039 bpd, according to the latest figures from the North Dakota Industrial Council (NDIC), which regulates the US state's industry.
Production in July had actually risen slightly above levels seen in June, but NDIC director Lynn Helms had warned that a drop below the psychologically important 1 million bpd mark was inevitable by the end of the year.
