Platform maintenance contractor Bilfinger Salamis UK has secured a “significant” contract extension with for work in the North Sea, saving 150 jobs in the process.

Bilfinger said on Monday that an unmanned North Sea operator extended an existing contract for another three years, with the option to extend for a further two years.

The value of the contract was not disclosed, however, Bilfinger said it will provide a range of lifecycle services to the client, including onshore project management, fabric maintenance, scaffolding, specialist cleaning, asbestos management, alternative access teams and shutdown management services.
