CHC applied for Chapter 11 protection under the US Bankruptcy Code in May in the wake of a fatal helicopter accident off Norway in which 13 lives were lost. In the aftermath of the accident, which was due to a technical failure, according to the Accident Investigation Branch Norway, the company saw a drop in demand.
However, the company had been in financial difficult before the crash, with reports indicating before the fatal incident that it was likely to seek bankruptcy cover.
