The company plans to move two drilling rigs that have been working on the project within a month and it will probably have a platform in place at Tahiti by September, spokesman Mickey Driver said.
Tahiti is expected to produce about 125,000 barrels of oil per day. Chevron will spend about $3.5 billion to put the Tahiti field into production in two phases.
