Competition authorities in the EU, US, China and South Korea gave their approval to the deal which was struck at the end of last year.
The new company, DNV GL, will formally come into existence on 12 September and will have some 17,000 employees across 300 sites in more than 100 countries.
The DNV Foundation will hold 63.5% in the new company with GL's parent, privately-owned Mayfair,holding the balance.
