The source of the spill was a pipeline leak at the Jefferson Energy Terminal near the East Texas city of Beaumont. The leak, which occurred Saturday, was secured shortly after it was discovered, Jefferson said in a statement.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause.
The spill prompted the US Coast Guard (USCG) to issue an order closing part of the Neches River to all vessel traffic on Saturday.
