During a session at the ONS 2016 conference in Stavanger,John McLaughlin, the former acting director of the CIA, highlighted the energy industry as one of the main drivers of security threats that, in his view, will influence the world in decades to come.
McLaughlin said that the global energy scene is undergoing changes "so profound that the subject now belongs on any list of today's major, potentially far-reaching trends".
