Eni revealed output had started at the delayed field development in production licence 229 over the weekend.
The company did not give initial production rates for the field, but output will eventually be ramped up to 100,000 barrels of oil via a subsea system consisting of 22 wells, 17 of which are already completed.
Production is handled by a cylindrical floating storage, production and offloading vessel which has a the capacity to store 1 million barrels of oil.
