The Calgary-based company said in a statement issued on Monday that 1800 staff were moved away from the facilities at the weekend in a co-ordinated effort as the fire burned on the Cold Lake air weapons range about 25 kilometres south of Foster Creek.
The evacuation and temporary shutdown were carried out as a precaution due to the proximity of the blaze to the only access road at Foster Creek, the company said, adding there had been no damage to any infrastructure.
