The Szymkowo-1 probe being drilled on the Szczawno concession in the Baltic basin is testing a deeper zone in the southern part of the basin “that we believe to have very high potential for gas”, executive chairman Olsin Fanning said in a statement.
It is targeting structures in Lower Silurian, Ordovician and Upper Cambrian formations.
The well is the third to be drilled in an initial three-well campaign under a joint venture with Canadian operator Talisman Energy, whereby San Leon receives a 40% free carry on exploration on three of its wholly-owned concessions in the Baltic basin.
