The harsh-environment drillship is under contract to US supermajor Chevron and is currently at anchor off the north end of Bressay Sound. The support vessels Esvagt Supporter and Island Champion are with the drillship.
The campaigners used inflatable boats to reach the 228-metre long drillship, before climbing up the anchor chain.
The two activists, Victor Rask from Sweden and Anais Schneider from Germany, are now suspended on small climbing platforms hanging from the drillship's anchor chains about five metres above the sea.
