The Nottinghamshire County Council said late on Wednesday that it will now rule next month weather to allow exploratory drilling for shale gas in the area.
IGas applied earlier this year for permission and received support last week from local planning officers who recommended its plans for approval.
The council was due to vote on Wednesday, however, it postponed its decision.
