Indonesia issued a fresh tsunami warnings hours after the initial tsunami watch after a powerful aftershock was felt.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said earlier on Wednesday that “sea level readings indicate a tsunami was generated” and that “it may already have been destructive along some coasts”.
The PTWC said at around 12:00 GMT that based on its latest data the tsunami warning issued immediately following the earthquake for all coastal areas of the Indian Ocean had now been narrowed to Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Diego Garcia.
