The Norwegian gas infrastructure agency is behind the removal of a series of offshore oil and gas platforms, with the topsides of the Ekofisk 2/4S platform having been removed in 2001.
In an announcement, Gassco said the jacket and bridge supports of the platform would be cut up and recycled by 2014 after the contract was finalised.
The 9000 tonne jacket will be delivered in two sections to Kvaerner’s recycling facility at Eldoyane on the island of Stord, south of Bergen.
