"The leak was detected by workers who were about to start working on the pipe system,” Statoil spokesperson Ola Anders Skauby told Upstreamonline.
“The identification took place before the detector alarms sounded and so the amount of gas leaked was limited.
“The situation was normalised after about an hour."
Workers were mustered into lifeboats as a precautionary measure but the platform was not evacuated and there were no injuries, said Skauby.
