The company declined to comment to Danish newspaper Berlinske, which first reported the possible split citing anonymous sources.
However, Maersk told wire service Bloomberg that it is still evaluating its options.
"The structure of the group is one of many options being evaluated, but it is important to point out that it is one of many possibilities, as structure alone doesn’t ensure growth,”Maersk spokeswoman Louise Muenter told Bloomberg on Friday.
