The Neptune tension-leg platform, which is capable of processing 50,000 barrels of oil and 50 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, is moored in 4250 feet of water on Green Canyon Block 613 about 120 miles (190 kilometres) off Louisiana.
BHP Billiton operates the platform with a 35% stake, while US producer Marathon holds 30%, Australia’s Woodside holds 20% and Maxus Exploration holds 15%.
