The company said on Monday it will also be shutting down manufacturing operations in southern and western Norway, due to reduced spending by oil companies and lower sales of new equipment.
NOV made the decision to further trim its workforce, after previously chopping 900 permanent jobs and 600 contract workers in June.
In November the company cut 120 workers at its manufacturing facility in San Angelo in western Texas as part of a plan to consolidate the location into other existing facilities.
