Okea intends to use a leased jack-up with processing topsides installed to exploit Yme’s remaining 70 million barrels of oil resources after taking over operatorship of the North Sea field from Repsol following an ill-fated development effort with a newbuild platform that is now being scrapped.
Maersk Inspirer, owned by Danish contractor Maersk Drilling, is already being used as a processing and drilling facility at Volve and will become available when Statoil shuts down the field in October in line with an earlier disclosed decommissioning plan.
