One person was killed in a massive explosion at an Oklahoma oil tank battery Wednesday evening, according to reports.
A sports utility vehicle was involved in the blast at the Berexco-operated site in Garfield County, but it was not immediately clear how.
The victim was not a Berexco employee, Garfield County Sheriff Jerry Niles told multiple outlets.
Niles told the Enid News that the victim was not immediately identifiable because “everything is burned”.
Authorities are waiting to hear from the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the identity of the victim and cause of death.
Niles said there did not appear to be any hazards or leaks at the site.
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to requests for more information.
