Operators need to reach out to local communities early and often when entering areas that are not accustomed to oil and gas development to ensure that projects are not derailed by above-ground risks, according to a panel of major international players at the World Petroleum Congress in Moscow.
“The most important process is to make friends with the local peoples,” said Xiansheng Sun president of the CNPC Economics & Technology Research Institute.
