Statoil discovered the internal riser damage during a scheduled inspection at its Njord A platform.
It said the damage “does not threaten the structural integrity of the risers, but over time it will reduce resistance to leakage”, adding that risers are “immediately removed from operation when damage is detected”.
The company has also decided to investigate the risers at the Visund field, where production will be suspended as well.
