Natural Resources and Mines Minister Andrew Cripps announced the release in his address to the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association conference in Brisbane on Tuesday.
He told delegates the six areas to be put up for tender would collectively cover more than 8700 square kilometres of under explored and greenfield terrain in central, south-west and far-north Queensland and cover parts of the Bowen, Surat and Carpentaria basins
“These areas are being tendered via a non-cash system and will help stimulate interest in greenfield exploration in Queensland,” Cripps said, adding that over 2800 sub-lots would be made available for tender.
