The Anglo-Dutch supmajor’s Nigerian subsidiary ShellPetroleum Development Company said that aleak had been reported “along the EasternGas Gathering System (EGGS-1) right-of-way (RoW) near Awoba in Rivers State”.
"In line with safety precautions, we have shut down our Sokuand Gbaran Ubie gas export via the EGGS1 pipeline,” SPDC said.
The measure has led to 1.5 billion standard cubic feet ofgas per day to be shut in, although Shell said it was able to export between100 million and 200 million standard cubic feet per day from Soku via the GTS1line.
