The state-owned explorer intends to use semi-submersible Transocean Spitsbergen to drill the 7227/10-1 well in Statoil-operated production licence 230, with the rig currently drilling the Pingvin well to the west of Statoil’s Johan Castberg discovery in the Arctic region.
The Saturn probe is mainly targeting hydrocarbon potential in the Snadd formation, with a secondary target in the Kobbe structure, and Statoil also has options to drill a pair of sidetracks.
