Strong winds of up to 70 knots in Nordland county have also forced search-and-rescue helicopters, which are normally stationed at offshore facilities, to remain on land, base leader for CHC Helicopter at Bronnoysund, Fredrik Johansen, told Norwegian state television channel NRK’s website, nrk.no.
He said the high winds, measured at 70 knots in the Heidrun area, also prevent helicopters from landing on platforms because of wave movement.
