A crowded field of seven or more bidders from South Korean, Chinese and Singapore yards are preparing to submit bids in the coming weeks in the latest chapter of the race to build BP’s giant Mad Dog 2 semi-submersible production platform for the US Gulf of Mexico.

BP is set to receive fresh proposals in the first half of June after expanding its field of contenders far and wide in Asia in recent months, Upstream understands.
