BP spokesman Hugh Depland said the company could not know for certain whether its Thunder Horse oil platform had sustained damage from the hurricane.
However, despite evacuating its employees, Reuters reported that BP was monitoring the facility electronically.
"The last information we received indicated the facility was still stable just as we left it," said Depland. "But we don't know the full impact yet.
