A UK High Court has ruled in favour of a decision by a local council in northern England to allow fracking, dismissing a case brought up by local group and environmental players.

Friends of the Earth (FoE) and members of local residents’ group, Frack Free Ryedale, asked the court to review North Yorkshire County Council’s decision in favour of Third Energy’s application after the council voted in May to approve the company’s plans to fracture an existing two-mile deep well called Kirby Misperton.
