US regulators estimated on Monday morning that operators in the deep-water region have suspended production of about 168,334 barrels per day of oil and 190 million cubic feet of gas per day.
That is equivalent to about 11.5% of the region's oil production, and 5.5% of the region's natural gas output, the US Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement said.
UK supermajor BP was among the producers to report production shut-ins as a result of the tropical depression, which is expected to become a tropical storm by Tuesday, named either Hermine or Ian.
"With
