The company will be using the semi-submersible drilling unit West Alpha for the job on the 6507/7-15S wildcat on licence 435, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate revealed on Friday.
The area covers parts of blocks 6507/7 and 6507/8 and is abour 13 kilometres north-west of the Heidrun field and 30 kilometres north of Asgard.
RWE is operator of the licence holding a 40% share with Maerks Oil, Edison International and Norwegian Energy all in for 20% each.
