The worker is understood to have died at about 2100 GMT on Sunday, while the rig was working on Dong Energy's Nini East development, in the Danish sector of the North Sea.
The deceased has not been named, but a spokesman for field operator Dong said the man's family had been informed.
He added that an investigation team has arrived at the Nini East site.
