The Singapore-listed player spun the bit at the Yongping field in the Fuyu 1 block in the Songliao basin on Monday.
Last month the company receive approval for its overall development plan at the field, where up to 1008 wells are permitted to be drilled over five year.
Each will be shallow – just between 200 metres and 300 metres in depth.
