The state-owned operator has applied to the authorities to use the rig to drill the 16/7-11 probe at the Knappen prospect in the North Sea, with an earliest spud date of February 2015 and estimated duration of 39 days including permanent plugging.
The well will be drilled to a targeted depth of 2680 metres in around 80 metres of water in production licence 072B, operated by Statoil alongside sole partner ExxonMobil, with 50% each.
