Hyundai will fabricate the 30,000-tonne central processing platform and associated infrastructure for the project in the Baram Delta production sharing contract off Malaysia.
The topsides will be built at Hyundai’s Ulsan yard, while the 14,000-tonne substructure may be constructed in Malaysia.
The South Korean giant beat off partnerships of France’s Technip with Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering, Saipem of Italy with Malaysia’s SapuraKencana, and China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company with Petrofac, plus a sole bid from US contractor McDermott.
