Malaysia’s Vestigo Petroleum has successfully redeployed a wellhead platform from the abandoned Ophir field to its Jitang field.
The relocation of the suction pile wellhead platform in one piece without any further structural modifications was the first of its kind in the world, according to Dutch contractor SPT Offshore, which performed the relocation in partnership with Redtech Offshore.
The barge Asian Hercules III was used to lift the platform from the Ophir field and reinstall it at the Jitang field off Terengganu, Peninsular Malaysia.
