Ten workers are now presumed dead after high winds led to part of a platform collapsing into the Caspian Sea last week in what was the latest deadly accident involving Azerbaijan’s state oil company Socar.
Only one body has so far been recovered after the 15 December incident on the shallow-water Sangachal-Duvanny fields, with an extensive search for nine other missing workers proving fruitless by the time Upstream went to press.
