The latest UK offshore licensing round has been launched as authorities continue efforts to turn around a worrying decline in exploration drilling.
The 29th Offshore Round— announced mid-week — will offer more than 1200 blocks in under-explored and frontier areas in the Rockall Trough and the Mid-North Sea High areas.
The basis for the round is a new package of seismic data acquisition funded, for the first time, entirely by government.
