The Aasgard subsea gas compression project has been in the making for several years, involving both operator Statoil and its Aasgard partners Petoro, Eni, Total and ExxonMobil, as well as research groups and engineering companies including main supplier Aker Solutions.
"Subsea gas compression brings us a large step forward. It gives a considerable potential for increased recovery, and is energy efficient because it is closer to the reservoir," Margareth Ovrum, head of technology, projects and drilling at Statoil, told Upstream.
